Spirit & philosophy

People have been working on the problems of the mind and the self for a very long time, and most of that work predates psychology by a few thousand years.

Wisdom traditions had developed detailed accounts of anger, attention, desire, grief and self-governance long before anyone ran a controlled trial on them. Some of it maps onto what we now measure. Some of it goes places the measurements don't reach.

This section takes those frameworks seriously and reads the primary texts carefully, rather than explaining them away in psychological terms or quoting them decoratively.

Comparative frameworks

The God Models Map

Four answers to what ultimate reality is, compared across eight questions: existence, consciousness, suffering, morality, purpose and death.

Panentheism vs pantheism

One syllable apart, and it changes whether you can pray to anything, whether you survive death as yourself, and what relationship even means.

Physics and metaphysics

Does consciousness create reality?

What quantum physics actually says, what the recent Wigner's friend experiments show, and where that leaves the older traditions.

The simulation hypothesis

What the simulation argument actually claims, the assumption it hangs on, whether it can be tested, and why a simulated reality might still be real.

AI and consciousness

Examining and understanding artificial intelligence and the question of machine minds.

Can AI be conscious?

Intelligence versus experience, why an AI saying it is conscious proves nothing, what the leading theories predict, and where the evidence stands.

Scripture

Emotional intelligence bible verses

What scripture says about self-awareness, self-control, anger, patience, empathy, listening and conflict, and how the biblical framing differs from the corporate version.
